This month, the Salem Digital Photography Group is exploring the magic of Graham Bird and the creation of “The Terabite” — the world’s first trillion-pixel macro image. Built from an astonishing 629,000 individual photos, this image was stitched into a single file nearing 3 terabytes (which, at the time, was the big hard drive).
They’ll break down how a team of photographers, engineers, and artists pushed technology to its limits to capture details the human eye could never see all at once — and how this image forever changed what was possible in photography.
And yes… there are hidden Easter eggs tucked inside the image. Some are technical. Some are playful. All are easier to miss than you’d think.
